RSL: The Discourse of Deficient Finishing

MLS

Well, Real Salt Lake managed to defeat the visiting Seattle Sounders 1-0. In fact, they scored on a rifled shot by Robbie Findley.

Yet, seconds after the start of the first half, Findley wasted an even more silver plated chance. I am aware that in any competition between two sides, you can fall into the X’s talent/Y’s weakness discourse, but, but, but…

I will not take credit away from Kasey Keller. But does anyone else think the discourse on “finishing” in the States needs to shape up? Box awareness, composure, and precision are a skillset, not a question of good luck/bad luck. Or is it?
